Stowey®one hook, endless possibilities

Stowey® is a double hook that keeps bags and jackets off the ground, on suitcase handles, rails and car headrests. We launched its predecessor, the Luggage Hook™, on Kickstarter in 2023 and developed it into a hook for travel and everyday life.

The problem

Travellers carry a jacket, a tote and a coffee and still need a free hand for their passport. The Luggage Hook™ gave these things a place on the suitcase handle.

Then customers sent us photos of the hook on towel rails, car headrests and gym racks. They had found more uses than we had designed for, and we developed Stowey® for all of them.

02

The approach

We make Stowey® from a single piece of custom thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Nothing needs to be separated, and at the end of its life we recycle it into a new hook. We engineer and design Stowey® in Germany, and since 2026 we also produce it in Germany.

The double-hook geometry carries up to 10 kg, and the more weight hangs on it, the tighter it grips.

Process

  1. CAD wireframes of several hook profiles

    01Ideation

We modelled and built countless hook profiles to test how a single curve can hold as much weight as possible while being easy to wrap around a suitcase handle.

  2. Durometer measuring the hardness of a hook prototype

    02Prototype

We built over 100 prototypes, measured them and loaded them until they broke. Each failure brought the geometry closer to its final form.

  3. Stowey hook standing in recycled plastic granulate

    03Produce

We developed a custom, recyclable TPE and prepared the part for tooling with design for manufacturing (DFM). Since 2026, our partners produce Stowey® in Germany.

What I learned

“Designing the product was half the job. The other half was building the systems and relationships that bring a product from idea to reality.”
